Samuel
Sibley (Richard, Hanna) was the son of Richard and
Hanna Sibley, and was born on March 10, 1658/9 in Salem, Essex County,
Massachusetts MA20,
SA11, SI1. Samuel
married Sarah Wells on September 13, 1695 SA11, SI1. The record of their marriage was copied by Benjamin R. Nichols,
Town Clerk for Salem on September 28, 1815 from the original record, which was
Salem’s first volume of births, marriages, and deaths MA27. The marriage of Samuel Sibley to Sarah
“Weld” was the third marriage recorded in Salem, Massachusetts, which did occur
on September 13, 1695 MA27. He was the father of Sarah Sibley MA20, EM1. Samuel was
allegedly killed when a group of Native Americans attacked Haverhill on August
29, 1708 SA11, SI1, WE8, BO10. Samuel reportedly attempted to douse
the blaze set on the meeting house but perished in his endeavor SI1. The administration of his estate was
granted to “John Sawyer & Sarah Sawyer alias
Sibley former Widow of Samuell Sibly Late of Salem Decd” AM1. The inventory of his
estate was conducted by Thomas Maule and Samuel West on December 8, 1710, which
stated AM1:
An Inventory of the estate of samuel sibley late of salem in
the county of essex in the province of the massachusets bay in new england
deceased.. Apprised by us whose names are under written, the eight. day of the
tenth month called. december. 1710..

Sarah Wells (John, Sarah) has been called both Sarah
“Wells” and Sarah “Weld” MA22, SA11. With
Samuel, she was the mother of Hannah, Richard, Sarah,
Jonathan, Samuel, and Samuel.
Hannah Sibley, the
daughter of Samuell and Sarah (Wells) Sibley, was
born on May 17, 1696 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts VI32, MA20, SA11. Hannah Sible (or Sibly)
married Batt Moulton on December 4, 1712 in Newbury, Essex County,
Massachusetts VI6. Hannah and Batt Moulton were the parents of four
children whose births were recorded in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts VI28. These were Hannah, born on March 23, 1714, Daniel,
born on November 21, 1715, Abigail, born on November 6, 1717, and Sarah, born
on November 19, 1719 VI28. Hannah and Bat Moulton were then named as the
parents of three children whose births were recorded in Amesbury, Essex County,
Massachusetts VI18. These were Jonathan, born on November 19, 1720,

MA26. Samuel Sibley was the father of six children whose
baptisms were recorded in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts VI31. These were Littlefield, baptized on May 6, 1739,
Hannah, baptized on April 19, 1741, Susannah, baptized on March 13, 1742/3,
twins Eunice and Priscilla, baptized on October 7, 1744, and Mary, baptized on
September 6, 1747 VI31.
Sarah secondly married John Sawyer in 1710 or 1711 AP2, WE8, TO1, who had lost his first wife, Mary (Merrill) Sawyer, in
the same year that Sarah lost her first husband, Samuel AP2. Sarah
Sibley and John Sawyer of Newbury declared their intent to marry on November
20, 1710 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts VI34, MA26. With John Sawyer, Sarah was the mother of Lydia, Eunis, and Loice AP2. Lydia
Sawyer, the daughter of John and Sarah, was born on March 29, 1712 in
Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts VI28, AP2.
Eunis Sawyer, the
daughter of John and Sarah, was born on January 21, 1714 in
Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts VI28, AP2. Eunice
Sawyer married Joshua Woodman in March 1735/6 in Newbury, Essex County,
Massachusetts VI6. Eunis and Joshua Woodman (or Wodman) were the parents
