Charles Davis was brought over the ocean and sold to pay his
passage Married perhaps in Chester county Pennsylvania moved to N.C. Chatham Co was a member of
the society of Friends of CC Mo. Meeting, had eight Children Viz Thomas John
Sarah Elizabeth Mary Thomas [this account later referred to Thamer, who married
Thomas Cox, but in this portion of the record it incorrectly stated the name
“Thomas” instead of “Thamer”] Hannah & Abigail who all married…
He may
have been Charles “Davis”, who was listed as a landholder in the Chester County
tax records; this Charles Davis lived in Newtown in 1737, and in Easttown in
1739 and 1740 CH5. On January 21,
1739/40, the Goshen Monthly Meeting in Chester County, Pennsylvania accepted
Charles Davies and Richard Fawkes as members US11. These men had “the approbation of Newtown Preparative Meeting”
and they were received at Goshen “as their conversation proves agreeable with
our principles” US11. Charles and Hannah

A

Charles Davies as minister to the meeting of ministers and Elders, with which

necessary Enquiry…” US11. Five

Monthly Meeting US11, HI4. The
Cane Creek Monthly Meeting record stated, “At a Monthly Meeting held the 6th of 12th mo

with an untruth and after repeated labour with him to shew the Inconsistancy of
his so rash an assersion but to no Purpose: Now this meeting disowns him” US11.
