Robert Andrew married Sarah
HI4. He may have been the Robert Andrew who witnessed the wedding ceremony
of William Webster and Ann Smith on the 26th day of the 3rd month, 1748 at the London Grove Meeting House BJ1. Robert and Sarah Andrew were witnesses to the wedding of David Harlan
and Allice Starr on December 16, 1756 at the New Garden Meeting House in
Chester County, Pennsylvania BJ1. He became a member of the
New Garden Monthly Meeting in Chester County, Pennsylvania on November 25,
1758, when a New Garden record stated, “Robert Andrew having for some time past
Requested to come under frds [probably “friends”] care & he being here Renew’d his
Request which after Consideration is granted” US11. Less than
four years later, he and his family intended to move to Fairfax, Virginia,
because a record from the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Chester County,
Pennsylvania dated the 6th day of the 3rd month, 1762, stated, “Robert Andrew Requests a Certificate
for himself, Wife & Children to Fairfax mo: Meeting in Virginia” US11. Robert
Andrew, his wife, Sarah, and their “Five Young Children Viz, John, William,
Jane, Katherine and Robert Andrew”, received that certificate on May 1, 1762
(“the 1st of ye 5th mo 1762”) US11. The records of the Fairfax Monthly Meeting in Loudon County,
Virginia state that on the 29th day
of the 5th month, 1762, a certificate was produced for Robert Andrew and
his wife, Sarah, and their five young children from the New Garden Monthly
Meeting in Pennsylvania, which was accepted US11.
The Fairfax Monthly Meeting records further state that after having relocated
to Loudon County, Virginia, Robert and Sarah and their children were granted a
certificate to the Warrington Monthly Meeting in Pennsylvania on the 30th day of the 4th
month, 1763 HI5.
Robert
Andrew of Orange County, North Carolina wrote his will on the 12th day of the 1st
month, 1791 (January 12, 1791) which was proved in open court held in Orange
County in August 1793 NO16:
To
all Christian People, to whom these presents may Come Greeting - Know ye that I
Robert Andrew of orrange County in the State of north
Carolina, Considering the uncertainty of this Life, Do this twelth
Day of the first month, in the in the [sic] year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and ninety one, make and publish this my last will and testament,
in manner following, that is to say, first, I Desire that my body may be Decently
Intered in friends burying ground, Secondly that my
funeral Expense may be paid, and then all my Just Debts - first I bequath unto my Son Robert Andrew my new Entry of Land, its
joining my Deeded Land to his heirs & assigns for ever _ Second, I bequath unto my Sons David and Thomas Andrew their heirs & assigns forever my
Deeded Land it to be Eaquelly Devided
betwixt them, Thomas, to have the west end of said Land _ third my will is that
my Loveing wife Sarah Andrew Shall have her mantainence Dureing her Life of
the said Land, I give unto my two
sons David and Thomas, I also bequath to my Loving
wife one fether, bed and beding,
as also one Cow to her & her assigns fourth
my will is that my sons, David and Thomas shall pay unto my son William Andrew

The
inventory of articles which were sold from the estate of Robert Andrew by
William and Thomas Andrew on September 28, 1793 included a bull, a heifer, a
steer, aheifer calf, a cow and calf, a mare, a loom,
a grindstone, a foot adze (this was probably a carpenter’s adze) and auger, a
dung fork, a culling knife and steel, a shove, and a powdering tub NO16.
Sarah was the mother of John,
William, Jane, Katherine, Robert, Ann, David, Thomas, and Sarah US11, NO16.
The
records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina
state that John Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew, was born on
the 13th day of the 9th
month, 1750 in Chester County, Pennsylvania US11. The
records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina
state that John Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew of Orange County,
North Carolina, married Deborah Holladay, the daughter of Henry and Mary
Holladay of Orange County on the 10th day
of the 4th month, 1776 in a ceremony witnessed by Henry Holladay, Robert
Andrew, Sarah Andrew, Mary Holladay, Lydia Holladay, and others US11. The records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance
County, North Carolina state that John and Deborah (Holladay) Andrew were the
parents of two children who were born in Orange County, North Carolina; these
were Robert, who was born on the 29th day
of the 2nd or 12th
month, 1776, and Hannah, born on the 12th day
of the 9th month, 1778 US11. The
records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina
state that John Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew, died on the 26th day of the 7th
month, 1779 (July 26, 1779) and he was buried shortly after at the Friends’
Burying Ground at the Spring Monthly Meeting US11. The records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County
(now Alamance County), North Carolina state that Deborah Andrew married Isaac
Dale on the 6th day of the 6th month, 1787 HI4. John’s
son, Robert, was named in the will of Robert Andrew, which was dated January
12, 1791 NO16. The records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County
(now Alamance County), North Carolina state that Hannah Andrew, the daughter of
John and Deborah Andrew of Orange County, married Jacob Marshill
on the 16th day of the 3rd
month, 1797 HI4.
The
records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina
state that William Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew, was born
on the 14th day of the 9th
month, 1753 in Chester County, Pennsylvania US11. The
records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina
state that William Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew of Cane Creek in
Orange County, North Carolina, married Hannah Holladay, the daughter of Henry
and Mary Holladay of Cane Creek, Orange County on the 10th day of the 4th
month, 1776 in a ceremony witnessed by Robert Andrew, Sarah Andrew, Henry
Holladay, Mary Holladay, Samuel Holladay, Jean Holladay, Sarah Holladay, and
others US11. The combined records of the Spring Monthly Meeting and the Cane
Creek Monthly Meeting, both in Alamance County, North Carolina, state that
William and Hannah Andrew were the parents of eleven children, the first six of
whom were born in Orange County, North Carolina US11. These were Henry, born on the 12th day of the 2nd
month, 1777, Sarah, born on the 25th
day of the 5th or 8th month,
1778, John, born on the 27th day
of the 7th month, 1780, Robert, born on the 11th day of the 2nd
month, 1782, Samuel, born on the 11th or
the 14th day of the 12th

of the 7th month, 1794, and Hannah, born perhaps on the 11th day of the 4th
month, 1797 (the line for Hannah’s birth information is extremely faded) US11. William was named in his father’s will, which was dated
January 12, 1791 NO16. William Andrew of
Orange County, North Carolina wrote his will on May 26, 1826 which mentioned
his wife, Hannah Andrew, his children, Isaac, Henry, Sarah, John, Robert,
Samuel, William, James, Aaron, and Hannah, his son-in-law, Nathaniel Newlin,
his granddaughter, Olive Newlin, and his grandson, William Andrew (the son of
John Andrew) NO16.
Jane Andrew, the daughter of Robert and Sarah Andrew
and the wife of William Holladay (and called Jane Holladay in this birth
record), was born on the 12th day of the 11th month, 1755
(November 12, 1755) in Chester County, Pennsylvania according to the records of
the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina HI4, US11.
Katherine Andrew was probably born about October 1859, as she was
sixty-seven years and six months when she died in April 1827 US11. She was the fourth child in a list of Robert and
Sarah Andrew’s “Five Young Children” (John, William, Jane, Katherine, and
Robert Andrew) US11. The records of the
Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina state that at a
monthly meeting held on the 7th day
of the 8th month, 1784, “Catharine Pickheart
formerly Andrew Disowned for accomplishing her Marriage out of unity” US11. Katharine was named in her father’s will, dated January 12,
1791 NO16. On the 27th day
of the 12th month, 1806, Catharine Pickhard moved
from the “Cean Crick” (Cane Creek) Monthly Meeting to
the Spring Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina with a
certificate from Cane Creek dated the 6th day
of the 12th month, 1806 US11. Then
on the 26th day of the 10th
month, 1815, Catharin Pickheart
produced a certificate dated the 26th day
of the 9th month, 1815 from the Spring Monthly Meeting, which was accepted
by the Lick Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County, Indiana US11. The records of the Bloomingdale (Bloomfield) Monthly Meeting
in Parke County, Indiana state that Catharine Pickard died at age sixty-seven
years and six months of “Polypus of the Woomb” on the
18th day of the 4th
month, 1827 (April 18, 1827) US11;
this cause of death may indicate she suffered from uterine polyps or uterine
cancer.
Robert Andrew was the fifth child in a list of Robert and Sarah
Andrew’s “Five Young Children” (John, William, Jane, Katherine, and
Robert Andrew) which was dated May 1, 1762 US11. He
may have been the Robert Andrew who died in 1822 in Wayne County, Indiana; the
records of the Whitewater Monthly Meeting in Wayne County, Indiana state that
Robert Andrew died at age sixty years and six months on the 17th day of the 3rd
month, 1822 (March 17, 1822) US11.
This would indicate he was born about September 1761. The records of the Cane
Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina state that Robert
Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah Andrew of Cane Creek in Orange County,
North Carolina, married Mary McCracken, the daughter of Alexander and Abigail
McCracken of Orange County on the 14th day
of the 9th month, 1786 in a ceremony witnessed by Alexander Mcracken, Abigail Mcraken, Robert
Andrew, Samuel Mcracken, William Andrew, Rebeckah Holliday, and others US11. Robert Andrew of Wayne County, Indiana wrote his will on the
17th day of the 3rd
month, 1822 (March 17, 1822) which named his wife, Mary, his children, John
Andrew, Ruth Cox, Mary Andrew, Abigail Andrew, and William Andrew, whom he
appointed as his sole executor IN23.
The date of his will was the same date as his death.
The
records of the Spring Monthly Meeting in Alamance County, North Carolina state
that Ann Andrew was born on the 7th day
of the 12th month, 1763; this record did not list her parents or birth
location US11. Ann Andrew was named in her father’s will, dated January 12,
1791 NO16.
David
Andrew was named in his father’s will, dated January 12, 1791 NO16. The records of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Alamance
County, North Carolina state that David Andrew, the son of Robert and Sarah
Andrew of Orange County, North Carolina, married Hannah Cox, the daughter of
John and Mary Cox of Randolph County, North Carolina, on the 25th day of the 11th
month, 1791 (November 25, 1791) in a ceremony witnessed by Thomas Cox, Isaac
Cox, William Holaday, Sarah Cox, Hermon Cox, William
Cox, John Cox, Mary Cox, Robert Andrew, Sarah Andrew, Eli Cox, and others US11.
Thomas
Andrew was named in his father’s will, dated January 12, 1791 NO16.
Sarah
Andrew was named in her father’s will, dated January 12, 1791 NO16. A marriage bond for Isaac Pickard and
James Pickard in the sum of ₤500 was recorded in Orange County, North
Carolina on December 24, 1794 which stated that on that date, Isaac Pickard
obtained a marriage license for himself and Sarah Andrew NO15. The records of the
Spring Monthly Meeting in Orange County (now Alamance County), North Carolina
state that Sarah Pickard was disowned on the 7th day of the 9th
month, 1795 for marrying out of unity HI4.
Sarah Pickard was received by request to the Spring Monthly Meeting on the 25th day of the 9th
month, 1813, and on the 24th day
of the 4th month, 1830, Sarah Pickhart was
granted a certificate to the Bloomfield Monthly Meeting in Indiana HI4.
The records of the
Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange County (now Alamance County), North
Carolina state that on the 5th day
of the 12th month, 1767, Sarah Andrew, along with
her husband and daughters, Jane, Catharine, and Ann, were received to the Cane
Creek Monthly Meeting on a certificate HI4.
Sarah Andrew was named in her husband’s will, dated January 12, 1791 NO16.
