John Mills may have been born about 1690, probably in
England BJ2. Around the year 1708, he married a woman with the
surname of “Wright”, and with her, he was the father of Thomas, Hur, John,
Henry, and Mary BJ2. Thomas
Mills was born about
1709 perhaps near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania BJ2.
Hur
Mills was born about 1710 BJ2. Hur married Rachel Harrold, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Baels) Harrold
BJ2. The
records of the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina
state that Hur and Rachel Mills were the parents of seven children US11. These were Charity, born on the 30th day, 9th month, 1739 (old style) or the 11th day, 11th month, 1739 (new style), Michael, born

will on November 24, 1761 which named his sons, Micaigah Mills and Amos Mills,
his daughters, Charity Mills, Jemimah Mills, Elizabeth Mills, and Rach… Mills,

John and Sarah (Bowater) Beals, who was born about 1713 BJ2. The New Garden Monthly Meeting in Chester County, Pennsylvania
recorded that Sarah Baels, the daughter of John Baels, Jr. and Sarah Baels was

Henry

Thornburgh in 1740, perhaps at the Hopewell Monthly Meeting BJ2. The records of the New Garden
Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina listed the children of Henry
and Hannah Mills (Moses, Sarah, Margaret, Aaron, Hannah, Hur, Charity, Joshua,
Ruth, and Rebeckah) but did not specify whether the dates were in the old style
of dating using the Julian calendar or the new style, or a combination; a
distinction which is especially important because their children were born
before and after 1752 US11. Thus, I have provided a transcription of their birthdates.
Moses was born on “ye 4 of ye 11 mo 1743”, Sarah was born on “ye 17 of ye 8 month 1745”,

records of the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina state
that Moses died in August 1759, Margaret died in October 1759, and Joshua died
in August 1762 HI4. The records of the Deep River Monthly Meeting in Guilford
County, North Carolina state that Hannah Mills, the wife of
Henry Mills, died at age sixty-six on March 27, 1791 and that Henry Mills died at age ninety years and seventeen
days on October 10, 1810 US11.
Mary
Mills married William Beeson, the son of Richard and Charity (Grubb)
Beeson, who died on December 18, 1760 BE8, BJ2. The records of the New Garden Monthly Meeting in
Guilford County, North Carolina stated that Mary Beeson, the wife of William,
“was born ye 17 day of the 1st mo 1723/4 O:S: ye 29 of ye 3 mo 1724 N:S:” US11, which indicates she was born on March 29, 1724, and that

the 11 month 1721/2 O:S: ye 30 of 1st mo 1722 N:S:” US11, which indicates he was born on January 30, 1722. The
records of the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina listed
the children of Mary and William Beeson, who were William, Wilmet, Rachel,
Charity, Hannah, Phebe, Richard, twins Thomas and Mary, John, Amasa, and Joseph

his sons, Thomas, Henry, Hurr, and John Mills, Jr., in 1743 WA26. He was received at
the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting on August 1, 1752, with a certificate from
Hopewell Monthly Meeting (located in Frederick County, Virginia), which was dated June 1, 1752 HI4, WA26. John Mills was
mentioned in the autobiography of William Reckitt, who stated that he visited
John in December 1757 RE2:
On fourth day [this
was the fourth day of the week, and would have been December 21, 1757] we rode
about thirty miles to Smith’s Creek, where we had a meeting on fifth day, at
the houſe of William Carall. It was ſilent, though they had ſent
notice ſeveral miles, and many came. I told them, though I had nothing to
communicate by way of preaching, or declaration, yet I found freedom to have
another opportunity at a proper time and place: which I had the next day at the
houſe of John Mills, about ten miles off, ſomewhat on our way. The
meeting was to good ſatisfaction. The Indians had killed and taken away
people within two or three miles of this place, not many weks before; but the
Lord preſerved us in our journey.

County, North Carolina state that John Mills died on November 24, 1760 US11, HI4, BJ2. John Mills, Sr. of Rowan County, North Carolina wrote his will
