“John Mills Sr., of Prince George County, Maryland, Farmer” deeded parcels of land to his sons, Thomas, Henry, Hurr, and John Mills, Jr., in 1743 WA26. He was received at the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting on August 1, 1752, with a certificate from Hopewell Monthly Meeting (located in Frederick County, Virginia), which was dated June 1, 1752 HI4, WA26. John Mills was mentioned in the autobiography of William Reckitt, who stated that he visited John in December 1757 RE2:

On fourth day [this was the fourth day of the week, and would have been December 21, 1757] we rode about thirty miles to Smith’s Creek, where we had a meeting on fifth day, at the houſe of William Carall. It was ſilent, though they had ſent notice ſeveral miles, and many came. I told them, though I had nothing to communicate by way of preaching, or declaration, yet I found freedom to have another opportunity at a proper time and place: which I had the next day at the houſe of John Mills, about ten miles off, ſomewhat on our way. The meeting was to good ſatisfaction. The Indians had killed and taken away people within two or three miles of this place, not many weks before; but the Lord preſerved us in our journey.
