Jacob French married Susann Waren on September 27, 1579 TH35 or 1578 TH46 at St. Mary’s Church in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England, which is on the border of Suffolk and Essex TH35. John Brooks Threlfall stated that before their wedding, the Bures St. Mary parish did not contain records of any individuals with the surname “French” TH46. They relocated to Assington, Suffolk, England by the time their daughter, Elizabeth, was baptized there on February 27, 1586/7 TH35. Jacob French was buried on November 11, 1615 in Assington, Suffolk, England TH35, LI3, CH35.
It is unclear how he may have been related to “Mr. Edw. French”, who was called the father of Thomas French in his baptismal record in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England; Thomas was baptized in 1629/30, sometime after the record of the previous baptism, which occurred on March 10, 1629/30 BA56. Thomas French (the surname was unclear to the transcriber, Helen Barrell), the son of Edward, was buried on July 1, 1632 in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England BA56.
Susan Warren may have been born circa 1555 and was probably the mother of William, Jacob, Thomas, Elizabeth, John, Susan, and Robert French. She may have been the daughter or descendant of William and Katherine Warren, who were of Bures St. Mary TH35. A man named William Warren was buried on October 12, 1550 in Bures St. Mary TH35. He may have been the same man named William Warren who died intestate and whose administration of his estate was granted to his widow, Katherine, on September 26, 1554 TH35. Katherine Warren of Bures in Essex wrote her will on July 31, 1567, which was proved in January 1570/1 TH35. Her will mentioned her daughter, Julyan, her son-in-law, John Awnsell/Ansell, the children of John Ansell (John and Alice Ansell, who may have been her grandchildren), her sons, Thomas, John, and Robert Waryn, her grandchildren (William and John Waryn, who were the sons of her son, Thomas Waryn), and her four young unnamed children TH35. She did not mention a daughter or a granddaughter named Susan TH35.
William French was baptized on July 25, 1580 at St. Mary’s Church in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England; his parents were not named in the parish registry TH35. William French married Elizabeth Newes on July 3, 1603 in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England ME14. Elizabeth was probably the daughter of Arther News ME14; Elizabeth, the daughter of Arther News, was baptized on October 9, 1575 in Groton, Suffolk, England EN4. They were probably the parents of William, Thomas, Jacob, and John French ME14. William was likely born about 1604 and married Elizabeth (perhaps Elizabeth Symes) about 1623 ME14. Thomas was baptized on November 10, 1606 at Twinstead, Essex, England TH35, ME14. Jacob was baptized on January 17, 1607/8 at Twinstead, Essex, England TH35, ME14, and John was likely born about 1610 in Essex ME14.
Jacob French was baptized on August 12, 1582 at St. Mary’s Church in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England; his parents were not named in the parish registry TH35.
Thomas French, the son of Jacob, was baptized on October 11, 1584 at St. Mary’s Church in Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England TH35.
Elizabeth French, daughter of Jacob, was baptized on February 27, 1586/7 at Assington, Suffolk, England TH35.
John French may have been baptized on March 27, 1596 at Assington, Suffolk, England; his parents were not named in the parish registry TH35. He was probably the father of Sarah French, who was called the daughter of John, in her burial record dated January 22, 1620/21 in Assington, Suffolk, England CH35, TH35.
Susan French was born sometime between 1589 and 1598 at Assington, Suffolk, England TH35. Susan French, the daughter of Jacob, was buried on August 1, 1613 in Assington, Suffolk, England CH35, TH35.
Robert French, the son of Jacob and Susan French, was baptized on June 25, 1600 at Assington, Suffolk, England TH35, LI3, CH35.
Susan (Warren) French may have been the Susan French who was buried on August 1, 1613, but the burial record in the Assington parish register called her the daughter of Jacob French TH35, LI3.
